Dance
Prosperity, joy and splendour are the canons of the Three Graces that Canova created between 1812 and 1817. The sculptor’s perfection is matched by the virtuosity of the three dancers in Graces, male bodies liberated from stereotypes, who have become Aglaé, Euphrosine and Talia in underwear and black socks. Silvia Gribaudi, also liberated, crosses the stage, genders and roles, distils humour and questions beauty. If we had to define the latter, according to the Italian choreographer, dancer and performer, it would be in the following words, “Oh yes, you have the power”! She likes to define herself as an “author of the body”, bringing unexpected dancers to the stage, including herself. Imperturbable, breathing hard, she hides neither effort nor redness behind the painful masks of classical perfection sculpted in white marble. Empathetic, funny and cruel, the scenes reveal an ode to the beauty of all in a comic interpretation that does art good.
