Shogo Yoshii JP
Music
For Japanese composer Shogo Yoshii, music not only evokes emotions but it also brings people together. With this in mind, Yoshii has always been interested in folk music from around the world. Trained in his youth in taiko, the art of drumming, shinobue, a type of bamboo flute, and kokyu, the only stringed instrument played with a bow in Japan, he travelled the countryside to study Japanese folk and tribal music before joining the Kodō percussion group. An insatiable all-round artist, he is known both as a musician, an artistic director and a choreographer. His boundless curiosity has led him to collaborate with artists from all backgrounds and to perform on stages around the world. Taking advantage of his visit to Château Rouge for the recreation of NOETIC by the 19 dancers of the Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève directed by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, La Bâtie has invited him to perform a solo. In an intimate concert between tradition and modernity, he will demonstrate the full extent of his musical knowledge. The event will take place after a walk from Saint-Cergues.
Outdoor walk & concert, dress warmly if necessary, bring comfortable shoes.
In case of rain, the show is postponed.
