To come out of oneself. To be besides oneself. To come out of oneself to watch oneself besides oneself. In a quasi-anatomical exploration, Ruth Childs shatters emotions to reveal their impressions on our faces, their contorted movements and their impact on our muscles. No more anger, violence, fear or pain, Blast! exposes the senseless body, which is both repelling and fascinating. Childs collects words by dissecting terrible stories and puts them into voice to the rhythmic compositions of Stéphane Vecchione, who makes her black silhouette dance like a sketch or a drawing by Michaux. In Fantasia she deconstructed her body movements, delving into the intimate layers of physical and emotional memories triggered by classical music. In this second solo, Childs offers an abstract x-ray of violent emotions, choreographing with staggering precision the grotesque, the burlesque and the derisory.
