Circus

Walking on pain in the form of pieces of glass. Taking comfort in objects as fragile as ourselves. Words like images illustrate the frail balance between humans and things that Maroussia Diaz Verbèke stages in her 23 Fragments de ces Derniers Jours. With the artists of the Brazilian collective Instrumento de Ver (literally “apparatus for seeing”), the artist, director and circographer* brings together objects as if she were putting together a play team, objects that come to life to make up an inventory of proposals. The aim is to understand this world in deconstruction and (perhaps) to fix it. This is circus of the third degree, a lesson in dance and things, a sensitive philosophy of reality on the edge of humour and danger. Whoever you are, you are welcome!

* Circographer: neologism by Maroussia Diaz Verbèke, dating from 2015, in open source. Refers to the specific writing/staging of a circus show (it also means “let’s be crazy” in North Brazilian, but that’s a coincidence).
