The first musical artist invited to perform at La Bâtie this year, Rodrigo Leão will open the doors of L’Alhambra to endless possibilities. The Portuguese composer, driven by an insatiable thirst for discovery, takes everyone by surprise with each album release thanks to his incredible ability to blend genres and draw inspiration from all musical cultures. Leão’s compositions develop a sense of enveloping gentleness, an atmosphere worthy of the best cinemas to tell you stories through the voices of prestigious guests, such as Stuart Staples, Beth Gibbons or Neil Hannon. There is a kind of benevolent nostalgia in his music that transports you elsewhere, to a gentler and more accomplished world. His latest album, A Estranha Beleza da Vida, which could be translated as “the strange beauty of life”, illustrates once again this feeling of well-being and freedom.
